It Lives In The North Sponsors Gordonridge Community Holiday Dinner

It Lives In The North reps Bizz, Scott Jackson and Redz attended the Gordonridge Community Holiday Dinner on December 18th to celebrate the Christmas season. Gordonridge is a neighbourhood in Scarborough near the Midland and Danforth area that is greatly supported by a group called Youth Becoming Something (YBS), who initiated the dinner.

While adults and children of all ages ate their free dinner, prepared by dedicated volunteers from the area, Scott Jackson entertained the crowd with his jaw-dropping beatbox skills. Once dinner concluded, several draws awarded a few lucky kids new toys provided by It Lives In The North. The energy was on high as Jackson continued his showmanship and gathered more than a dozen children at the front of the gymnasium for a dance competition. The winners received candy-filled gift baskets provided by Sweet Treats. It Lives In The North t-shirts were also given out to lucky diners who found promotional flyers attached to the bottom of their plates.

Shout out to Mike Opoku and Redz for coordinating It Lives In The North's participation in this event. We hope this will be the first of many community events we can be a part of.

Scott Jackson is the epitome of hip hop. Arguably the best beatboxer in the country, his dedication to the culture is mind blowing. To witness Scott create sounds and beats never gets old and I've had the pleasure of being around him a lot over the years. He's been travelling to different schools across the GTA of late, teaching kids about beatboxing and spreading hip hop culture. He recently battled KRNFX in a beatbox battle at King Of The Dot. Ryerson University is home to a growing collective called the Urban Hip Hop Union. It Lives In The North sponsored a UHHU event last year and here are some photos of the gear popping up with members of the union. They orchestrate a variety of events and continue to facilitate hip hop's growth in Canada.
